The airport in Kunming is targeted to open in 2008. Fraport currently owns the Frankfurt Airport in Germany, and news reports say Fraport is also considering a 25% stake in the Ningbo Airport, which is near Shanghai. Kunming is currently the seventh-busiest airport in China and handled almost 10 million passengers in 2004. The new Kunming airport will have an annual capacity of 25 million passengers. |

University exams are on at the moment here in Kunming. Teaching officially ends at the end of this week - 1st July 2005.
I've booked to fly to Hong Kong - Australia on 17th July for four weeks. Return to Hong Kong mid August. Don't have to be at the Chengdu university until late August, so I am thinking of staying a week or two in Guilin / Yangshuo.
No need for me to look around Chengdu much in advance as I'll be taken on a few local tours once the academic year begins.
