Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used.
Every time you visit any website on the Internet, some basic information about your network connection, such as your IP address, and the type of browser your use is sent to the website, as well as any advertisers that website uses. This is also true of this site. By itself, none of this information is personally identifiable.
Our chat room features a "chat log" function, which allows users of our chat rooms to view the messages that other users have written. Posting a message to any of the chat rooms is like posting to any of the forums on the site -- your message will be published and saved for others to see.
In the course of third party advertisements being served on this site, those third parties may be using cookies or web beacons to collect information. This is a standard practice and will be true of all web sites that use similar third party ads. You can delete cookies and choose which sites are not allowed to set cookies using your browser settings. Additionally, Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on the Treehouse Cityguide site. Google's use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and other sites on the Internet. Users of the Treehouse Cityguide site may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy.
We use your email address as a tag to group together content that you add to the Treehouse Cityguide. This is necessary to properly clean up after malicious users who vandalize the site. If you sign up for notifications from us (for example from our forums), we will also use your email address on record to send you your notifications. Your email address is also used during initial account registration to verify that it is valid and in case you forget your password.
If you send us email, we will use your return email addresses to answer that email. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.
We may share non-identifying and aggregate information with advertisers. For example, we may tell an advertiser that X number of individuals visited a certain area on our website in a period of time. However, we would not disclose anything that could be used to identify those individuals.
